As an organization, Nehemiah Gateway USA invests in people’s ability to attain self-sufficiency. We are firm believers in “help for self-help”, otherwise known as “teach someone to fish, and they’ll fish for a lifetime.” We celebrate work, and the vibrancy entrepreneurs bring to their communities.

That’s why it is difficult to witness the storms that many of Pogradec’s small entrepreneurs are currently trying to navigate. In this issue, you will see how NG’s transportation contractors have been impacted by soaring fuel prices, and how an NGU student of mine is seeing profits erode at the new bakery he manages.

In the meantime, people with less, find that they have even less.
