Roy and Beverlee Atwood Return to the US

Roy and Beverlee Atwood, NG University’s Vice Rector and Head of the University’s Exam Office, respectively, returned to the USA in mid-May to seek medical treatment for the two herniated discs in Roy’s back.

“Regrettably, finding medical relief for my back pain required us to return to our US home and to leave our NG University posts, the students and colleagues we love, our dear Albanian Christian brothers and sisters, and the beautiful Pogradec community. We already miss them all,” Roy said.

Prof. Atwood first came to Albania and NG University in 2014 as the chair of the University’s first TRACS accreditation site visiting team from the USA. He and Beverlee then came to Albania together for guest lecturing in 2015 and 2016. In January 2017, they moved to Albania to take up their full-time administrative posts with the University.

“We hope we can return to NG someday, once my health permits,” Roy said. “In the meantime, we’ll try to serve the University’s students, especially with thesis advising, and to manage the University’s academic records as best we can online for as long as we can from our home in Moscow, Idaho.”

The NG Team in Germany bid the Atwoods a warm farewell in Nuremberg in early May. The NG Albania and University community then sent them off with a gift of a panting by famed Pogradec artist Taso (Anastas Kostandini). The painting had been part of his exhibit commemorating the 550th anniversary of the death of Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeg.
