UNESCO‘s Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Lake Ohrid Region

Mar 25, 2024

I'm sure you enjoyed the rhetorical and photographic journey! I look forward to joining you on an amazing trip to the Lake Ohrid region in person.

In Pogradec we have visitors all over the year, people we have known for years, new acquaintances, friends of the family and also friends of friends who are exited to see what is the Lake Ohrid region and why it is so special. My duty is twofold, to respect the guests and to promote the real values of my beloved region.

Lake Ohrid: A sanctuary of biodiversity, nurturing a tapestry of life with 200 unique species flourishing within its embrace. Lake Ohrid, shared between North Macedonia and Albania, holds exceptional universal natural and cultural significance. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, it satisfies four out of ten criteria, encompassing both natural and cultural aspects.

Let's take a visual tour of Lake Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see its stunning beauty and understand why it's so famous.
